Ghalegaun and Ghanpokhara Located in the district of Lamjung, Ghale Gaun is approximately 20.5km North West of Kathmandu and 12.5 km north east of Pokhara. ghale ghau village situated at an altitude of 2016m.
Ghalegaun and Ghanpokhara are mainly Gurung settlements nestled amidst mountains, rivers, streams, waterfalls and green forests.
The view from the ghale gaun villages stretches from Buddha Himal, himalchuli and Manaslu to the northeast Mt. Lamjung and Annapurna II to the north and Mt. Machhapucchre and Annapurna South to the Northwest. The approach to Ghalegaun-Ghanapokhara is a wonderful experience, the mists of the early mornings, the beautiful Khudi and Midim rivers, beautiful rhododendrons; chirping sound of the birds simply takes one to the far away place and completely with the nature. The trekking route passes through the dense forests, villages and awesome waterfalls.
Trek from Beshibhar to ghalegaun 2,095m) and it takes about four hours. Here you can enjoy the magnificent views of sunrise and sunset. The mountain views of Mt. Annapurna and Manaslu ranges and river valley add another dimension to this trek. The Himalyan culture dance offered on the way amuses the trekkers. Ghalegaun is a traditional Gurung village situated in the lap of the Annapurna range. Here you are offered in depth experience of the culture of the Gurungs at their home stays and through cultural programs. There are Gurung pilgrimage sites in and around this region, including the Samba Chhyoling Gompa at Nassar Danda. The peaks such as Annapurna range, Lamjung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and several other unnamed can be seen from these villages. The area is enriched with green pastures of grasslands and can be found fauna including medicinal herbs, rhododendron forest with various kinds of Himalayan birds and wild animals.
Trek from Ghalegaun to Ghanpokhara (2,157m.) which takes about half hour. You hike from Ghalegaun to Ghanpokhara. You can enjoy the view of sunrise and surrounding mountains as Mt. Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. You can experience the village tour. Ghanpokhara is about 100m above Ghalegaun.
Trek from Ghanpokhara to Khudi and it takes about five hours. This day you can see waterfall and cave. You can also visit construction site of Khudi Hydro Electricity Project.
Drive from Khudi to Kathmandu which takes about six hours
